Does anyone but me remember Prosser's Bakery on Ventura Avenue? In the late 50's they closed and a mattress factory took it's place.

Prosser bakery trucks
by: Joanne

Yes, I remember the bakery trucks they had that would drive through the neighborhood of ventura avenue. The trucks kinda looked like surfing woody wagons, but the back would open up and had very cool sliding trays so you could choose what you wanted from them. This was in the very early sixties.

My dad James Brannon worked there till closing. He would take me with him when he needed to check on something. The fresh aroma of the bread baking. Yum.

Prosser's Operated in the 1960s
by: Anonymous

I remember Prosser bread on the lower Avenue when I was a young elementary school student, in the early 1960s. One of my fellow students, whose last name was Prosser, claimed to be the child of the owners. I never believed him; it seemed out of character.

by: Don Morris

I am Al Morris' brother, Don. Our dad worked with James Brannon. We used to go rabbit hunting with "Jimmy Brannon". I remember the first time he (Jimmy) shot a rabbit with his brand new 12gage pump. I was only 9 at the time. Wow, thanks for the memory.
