Go outside, get involved and celebrate
Ventura’s Parks and Recreation Month this July

Since 1985, the United States has designated July as National Parks and Recreation month. To celebrate, the City of Ventura is encouraging all community members to “Come & Play the Ventura Way” and get wild about our wonderful park and recreation activities. Join Volunteer Ventura! at its “Beach Cleanup Bash” on Saturday, July 14, 10am-1pm at Marina Park followed by a BBQ picnic for all helping hands and fun games for kids.

Take the plunge at the Ventura Aquatic Center, 901 S. Kimball Rd., which has a huge lineup of free and discounted events. Fridays, July 20 and July 27 are free Family Float nights at the Aquatic Center starting at 6:45pm and the popular “Slide & Dive” on July 28 (11:30am -3:30pm, $3-$5.)

Join in on Saturday, July 28 for a day of free events at the Ventura Community Park, 901 S. Kimball Road, including; a service project 9am -11am, the “Touch a Truck” display for children, a “Long Ball Contest” 11am-12pm, a “flash mob” performance by the city’s National Day Of Dance team at 11:15am, the “Slide & Dive” event ($3-5, 11:30-3:30 pm) and SNAG (Starting New at Golf) demo from 1-3pm.

From free swims at the Ventura Aquatic Center to free clinics for golf and tennis to a Beach Clean up Bash to Music under the Stars Concerts, there is something for everyone to go outside, get involved and celebrate Ventura’s National Parks and Recreation Month in July!
