Ocean friendly gardens are springing up

Have you noticed lately the beautiful gardens in front of many midtown Ventura homes? Be a part of this smart and environmentally conscious trend and learn how to transform your tired, brown and water-thirsty lawn into an Ocean Friendly Garden (OFG). Surfrider Foundation's Ventura County Chapter is starting an OFG class series which includes a Basic Class on March 10, a Hands-On Workshop on March 25, and a Garden Assistance Party on May 12. This special program is funded through a Whale Tail Grant and is free to City residents but space is limited. To register for the series, please RSVP at pherzog@surfrider.org or contact Jill Sarick Santos at the City of Ventura, Environmental Sustainability, at 652-4501. For more information about the OFG program, visit www2.surfrider.org/ventura/VenturaOFG.
