name of restaurant

by Vanessa
(Ventura, CA)

back in the 1960's there was a hawaiian restaurant that was way ahead of its time for the
Ventura area
It was located in the Wagon Wheel area and some other native Venturans and myself could not remember the name of it....it was something like Hawaiian Gardens, or Polynesian something.
If anyone out there remembers the name, please please let us know...
Thank you

Wagon Wheel restaurant in the /60's was Trade Winds Polynesian Restaurant, and in the 80's at some point they also added Hawaiian Cowboy Club that catered to the line dancing craze of the time. -- we did have fun!

The Trade Winds
by: Moses

Back in July of 1965 James Brown & The Famous Flames Revue played in the parking lot of the Trade Winds. What a show, what a night. The place was packed and James Brown was debuting his new song Papa's Got A Brand New Bag. Out of Sight!

Trade Winds
by: Vanessa

Wow, Sorry I missed James Brown,,,,that would have been some great memories.
Being a native Venturan, I don't know how I missed that one, only because that would have been a pretty big deal for Ventura back then!!
Thanks

I have a menu
by: Anonymous

The Trade Winds. My parents went there several times, and in my dad's stuff that I inherited after he died, I found a menu from there.
