There was a minor league baseball team in Ventura in the late forties and early fifties. Can you post some information and I'd like to see if there are any pictures.

Minor League Baseball in Ventura
by: Doug

As a kid, I remember going the ball games at the ball park at Seaside Park down to about 1955, I think where the parking lot is today. As I remember, and there is more to the story of minor league baseball than I remember, the team was first the Ventura Braves, then the Ventura Oilers, finally, the team became the Channel City Oilers, sharing home games with Santa Barbara. The team belonged to the California League. About 1955, the team moved to Reno, Nevada (I think) and stayed in the California League.

Is that why the old lamposts there have cages around the lights still?
