This is our favorite gourmet Mexican restaurant in Ventura! In fact, I was never a fan of mole until I ate at Maria Bonita! The place is small, cozy and decorated with wall art as colorful as the dishes they serve.

 Depending on how spicy you like your food, you can choose from a few different moles. I usually order the enchilada plate topped with a spicy chocolate and slightly sweet mole sauce. I hear their tamales are delicious too but have yet to taste them.

To my surprise the restaurant is never crowded (at least when we’ve been there). The family owned restaurant has been in business for a few years and has attracted a loyal following of those willing to go for something out of the ordinary!
