You be the judge!

Summertime in Ventura County brings an opportunity for all of us wine lovers, both savvy and newbies to get out there and taste many wonderful wines. Some new wineries, new vintages, new varietals and sometimes new winemakers. Most of the time, these outdoor tastings include the wares of many of the local restaurants. So, what better way is there to learn and enjoy than to go to these tastings. And who best to be the judge of all these wines? You!

Last month, there was the 26th Annual Ojai Wine Festival at Lake Casitas. Over 60 wineries participated and the proceeds went to various Rotary projects. This has always been a favorite for locals. Many food stands were available, or just bring a picnic and chairs.

Last week, there was the 5th Annual Ventura County Wine Trail Celebration, which featured 15 wineries from the Trail and great foods from over 15 local restaurants. Over 700 people bought tickets for the events. The event took place at Heritage Square in Oxnard. I was very impressed with some of the new wineries that keep popping up. The food was fantastic, and the crowd really enjoyed the food, the music, the wine and the whole ambience. A portion of all the proceeds will to going to the local Food Share.

Taste of Camarillo Wine and Food FestivalOn Sunday, July 29th, the 25th annual Taste of Camarillo Food and Wine Festival will be held at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch House. This event has always been one of my favorite tastings to go to. The proceeds from this event benefit local Ventura charities. In addition to the wine, food and music, there is always a silent auction where you can bid on certain items. This is always a fun area for me and will be for you if you have never done that before.

See y'all there,
