Information about Ventura Avenue, Ventura, Ca

My husband and I lived on Romona St. in 1961 to 1964. There was a small library on the corner of Romona and the Avenue at the time. My husband was an avid reader and I also took our niece there for books to read. My husband worked at Santa Cruz Market at the time.

yes that was the library. But before that it was a post office. At least that's what it said on the front, when they refinished it.

Library on the Avenue NEW
by: Anonymous

There was a small branch library on the corner as early as the 1940's. I would go every week with my mother to this library. In the 40's there was a Steroscope and cards for it near the front of the library. I spent many happy times looking at the cards as well as checking out books.
The small library is down the street now.

Library NEW

That library is the first library I can remember visiting as a small child in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The branch was later moved to the other (west) side of the avenue, not too far north of Ramona Street. I remember the librarian at that branch, Mrs. Gibson (I'm pretty sure, but not completely, that was her name), very fondly.
