Humpback Whale Breaching Sequence

We saw some Humpback whales about 1/2 mile away that had dived and were waiting for them to roll up and spout and see their backs and tail flukes. Suddenly less than 100 feet away this guy erupted out of the water like a submarine throwing water in all directions.We were with Island Packers on the Island Adventures catamaran and everyone on board experienced it. It was over in less than 5 seconds. I think I was the only one fortunate to be ready and capture this series. I have a series of four photos but am not sure if you want more than one downloaded.

Dan and my brother were on board our catamaran standing off of the bow. Casually carrying a conversation when the Humpback whale breached near our boat. Dan quickly took the photos without any time to focus on the whale. The photo is unbelievable and so fantastic!

We have the photo for sale in our gift shop as well as on display to share with our guests.

We had two weeks of incredible viewing of several pods of humpbacks. Now it is the tail end of the northerly gray whale migration. Still sighting some humpbacks, the gray whales and even some sighting this week of fin back whales.

Really neat to see these mammals in the wild!
