Hobson Beach Campground is a first-come first serve campground situated above a sandy beach that comes and goes with the tide.

The small circular shaped campground offers 31-sites (10 with full hookups), flushable toilets, showers and a small camp store and grill which serves up breakfast and lunch. Tent camping is available but the park is more suitable for RV campers (max. 70’).

It fills up fast, especially during the summer months, and the circular shape can make you feel a bit crowded and boxed in (at least it does for me). The train tracks are also nearby and trains pass thru frequently. Reservations are now accepted November 1st thru March 31st.

Hobson Park offers one of the best beaches to surf and the sandy beach makes for comfortable sun-bathing.

During low tide, it is also one of the best places to explore a natural tide pool on the reef which makes it a fun place for kids and nature lovers.

Tip: Contact Valerie, owner of the grill, before you go and she can let you know if space is available. She cannot tell you about the surrounding campsites, but she can really save you the drive down there. Valerie will answer most of the time, unless she’s busy flipping the burgers: 805-652-1233.

Cost: $30.00, $45.00 w/hookups. $1.00 per pet w/2 pet limit (must be leashed). Day use is from 7:00am to sunset.

Getting There: Exit U.S. Hwy 101 at the Seacliff exit. Turn right onto Seacliff. Park is on the right.
