The Mysterious Abondoned
Shell Chemical Plant

An "Apocalyptic" World of Graffiti Art

While the West side is already Ventura's funky side, the rusting metal structures at the abandoned Shell Chemical Plant along the Ventura River Bike Trail is at the far end of funky . The amazing graffiti art, some with social and cryptic messages, decorate the decaying metal like hieroglyphics from a past civilization. The clank of dangling metal against the huge empty tanks plays an eerie, haunting sound. Not a place you'd want to be after dark and honestly a little scary in the day too.

Take an artistic and eerie tour of this abondoned plant...

This post-apocalyptic looking oddity was also inspiration for Aingel Emme's music video appropriately titled "Straight to Hell".
