1969 Flood
by: Anonymous

There are some great books in the Library, or in the used books stores on Main depicting old Ventura, the 1969 and 1979 floods, Peking Street, and old downtown, C Street etc., try there maybe. :)

Try the Ventura County Museum. If they do not have a copy, they can most likely order one.

The 69 flood was a bad one
by: Russell

I lived in Oak View during the flood. My father lived in Casitas Springs. He was evacuated and stayed with me for three days until it was safe to return to his home. I was unable to go to work during that three days because of water, downed trees and power lines across Hwy. 33. Several homes were flooded along the Ventura River and there were homes in the river bed that were washed away. If my memory serves me correctly there were three deaths due to the flood of the Ventura River.
